Inspecting & Lookup

GriefLogger is more than just a data recorder; it provides powerful in-game tools to access and analyze the logs without ever having to leave Minecraft. This allows for rapid investigation of incidents as they happen.

There are two primary methods for querying the database in-game:

The Inspector Tool

  • Command: /gl inspect
  • Purpose: A simple, intuitive tool for quickly checking the history of a specific block or container.
  • How it works: After enabling the inspector, you simply left-click or right-click on blocks in the world to retrieve their history. It's perfect for quick, localized investigations.

The Lookup Command

  • Command: /gl lookup
  • Purpose: An advanced, filter-based search engine for the entire log database.
  • How it works: You provide a set of search criteria, called "filters," to find all log entries that match your query. This is the tool for complex investigations, such as finding all actions a specific player has taken within a certain time frame and area.

This section will guide you through the details of each command, the powerful filtering system, and how to navigate the results.
