What is X-Life? The Backstory​

X-Life was a popular, modded Minecraft SMP (Survival Multiplayer) series that began in 2020, featuring a large group of YouTubers. The series was built around a unique and challenging core mechanic: players had a limited number of lives, and their health was directly tied to how many lives they had left.

The rules of the original series were as follows:

  • Ten Lives Total: Each player had a total of 10 lives.
  • Start with One Heart: On their first life, players started with only a single heart.
  • Gain a Heart on Death: Every time a player died, they would respawn with one additional heart, making survival a little easier, but bringing them one step closer to elimination.
  • Final Elimination: After losing the tenth and final life, the player would be banned from the server permanently.

This simple but punishing ruleset created a tense and exciting environment where every decision mattered, leading to cautious exploration, strategic alliances, and memorable moments. This mod aims to replicate that thrilling experience for everyone.
