Accessing the Menu
Unlike older modding standards that required you to restart the game to change settings, YAML Config provides a unified, in-game dashboard to manage everything on the fly.
The Default Keybinding
By default, the global configuration menu can be opened by pressing:
F12
Changing the Keybinding
If F12 conflicts with another mod (or a system screenshot key), you can easily rebind it:
- Open the Minecraft Pause Menu (
Esc). - Go to Options > Controls > Key Binds.
- Scroll down to the YAML Config category.
- Click on Open Configs Screen and press your desired key.
The Configs Screen
When you press the hotkey, you will be greeted by the Configs Screen. This screen acts as a hub for all installed mods that utilize the YAML Config library.
- Mod List: You will see cards for every supported mod.
- Search/Navigation: If you have many mods installed, they will be organized in a grid.
- Opening a Config: Simply click the button corresponding to the mod name (e.g., "Jobs+", "GriefLogger") to enter its specific settings.
Server-Side vs. Client-Side
When you click a mod in the list:
- Client Configs: These open immediately. You are editing the file located on your own computer.
- Common/Server Configs:
- If you are in Singleplayer, it opens immediately.
- If you are in Multiplayer:
- If you are OP (Operator): The client requests the config from the server. The menu opens, allowing you to edit global server settings.
- If you are NOT OP: You will only be able to view client side configs. Common and server configs will be hidden, as you do not have permission to edit them.
